![]() By Isaac George A powerful New Moon is upon us this Monday, this time at a very significant degree in the Zodiac. Sun meets Moon in Taurus at 26 degrees, 55 minutes at 5:11am British Summer Time. This degree is described in the Sabian Symbols as “AN OLD INDIAN WOMAN SELLING BEADS AND TRINKETS.” Found the interpretation for this degree via astrologer Lynda Hill to be very helpful…you can read it here. (The chart may be viewed below) Essentially this lunation has the power to reignite our passions for our purpose and to also remind us of what we are truly in love with and why. Not out of a sense of obligation or duty, but because our innate instinct is a longing for belonging and of feeling really valued. Yes, although this New Moon is painted in very personal terms around self-value and empowerment, it is also going to have something to say in regards to our relationships; the ones were in, or the ones we’d like to be in. After all, the Nodes are still in Libra and Aries, and Mars is in a social sign (Gemini) and Venus is lounging around in Cancer (dewy-eyed love). Since the New Moon is noted as a time to set new intentions, then perhaps the intention should be to feel okay about shaking up our own values and see what remains that is truly our own, and not a value or belief system imposed from without. Begin by valuing your innate self-worth as a living embodiment of divinity in human form. This sense of self-value isn’t about ego, but about acknowledging where we haven’t overcome any feelings of guilt or shame about our right to be here, to be happy, free and peaceful. Fulfilment isn’t something you get…it’s something you are once you stop accommodating to the expectations of others. Now, the wrinkle here is that although this is a New Moon ruled by Venus (Taurus), and we’d like to think it’s all about hearts and flowers, there are edgy bits all around it. The main antagonist is a fixed star named Algol (Caput Algol) which hangs out at 26 degrees of Taurus, and it isn’t to be trifled with. In mythology it is the Gorgon’s Head, the head of Medusa severed by the hero Perseus. I’ve located two different views about Algol, which I’ve linked here and here. Essentially I view Algol as a supreme symbol of female empowerment and the sacred Feminine, especially in the sexual way, or involving kundalini and shamanism as a way of empowerment. It’s Feminine Power, unbridled and raw, but also with the power to transmute itself into an agent of pure creative potential. However, if there are areas of self-judgment or projections of guilt involved, then the suppression or sublimation of this force could easily “behead” someone…i.e., through anger projected outwardly at those who are controlling, or inwardly if the individual is harbouring shame or guilt. The task here is to shake and break any bonds whether of internal or external origin in order to liberate the psyche (soul) from bondage. Looked at in another way, we cannot be attacked by others if we stop attacking ourselves. Neither can we tolerate or allow projections of shame or guilt if we stop feeling unworthy about ourselves. In one sense, this lunation and the presence of Algol may speak louder to women than to men, but men will feel the effects indeed! Leading up to Monday’s event we have Venus in Cancer squaring the Nodes of the Moon (Libra – Aries), another pea under the mattress involving the need to relinquish our hold on relationships or relationship forms that are no longer resonating with our Soul’s new calling. This will be less pronounced the day of the New Moon, but the effects will linger for days. A weak Grand Trine between Mars, Ceres and the North Node are further stimulating themes around relating to others. Mars in Gemini is still loosely opposed by Saturn in Sag, who continues his retrograde path back towards the late degrees of Scorpio (arrives mid-June). Still a bit of the feeling of stop and go hanging around. This too shall pass. Pluto is also retrograding, but at a snail’s pace so far. Finally, Mercury turns retrograde the day after the New Moon at 2:49am British Summer Time at 13 degrees and 8 minutes of Gemini. We’ll get three weeks of ‘review’ time to reassess our mental images, and ideas and plans for the near future. As usual, I will recommend the backing up of files to external drives, organizing your papers, and double-checking your travel arrangements, etc. That’s all for this week’s Planet Visions update, and I recommend you lean into the wind of change gracefully and commit to it completely. Party on, Isaac P.S. As you may have noticed, the site revamp is complete, but there is still work to be done on some of the new packages. Have a browse around and see what you think. Thanks!
