I am morphing into a heretical evolutionary astrologer. In other words, with a few future exceptions, I will be blogging less about lunar events, eclipses, etc. There are a number of reasons for this, which I’ll cover in a different series of blogs that will be coming up in the next few weeks, but suffice it to say that as an evolutionary, or soul-based, astrologer, it’s time to evolve! Perhaps the term “pirate astrologer” might suit. Hmm…star larceny might not work. Now that’s out of the way, time to focus on this week’s festivities.
There’s a lovely being whose been messaging me for a week or so now, asking “when will things settle down?” My pat answer to her, and others, is “not in the foreseeable future.” Today is a good example. It’s a New Moon in Libra, and yes, there is a HUGE amount of energy pressing down on all of us regarding relationships; our relationship with Self, with others, or a significant (and possibly difficult) “other.” With each passing day, it appears that external and internal forces are coaxing, if not downright pushing us to make decisions…to choose a path, a new direction or commitment. And this is indeed what is occurring, and will continue to occur with increasing intensity. (The chart is below, and the exact moment of the New Moon is 1:05BST, 12:05GMT, October 13th. It occurs on October 12th in North and South America.)
When is it going to settle down? I’ve got no idea, and my advice is don’t look for some sort of external reprieve to suddenly return you, me or the rest of the world to some somnambulistic version of our previous worldly experience (think the Eisenhower years of the 1950’s, or Marty McFly’s lifestyle in “Back to the Future” during the 1980’s). It’s not going to morph suddenly into a future Utopia either (remember 2012?). Nobody is going to get to sleepwalk through the next decade or so, and I’ll stake my astrological reputation on it. Now, before you shut down and call me a negativist and accuse me of fear-mongering, I’d just like to ask you to look at how positive these times and the potential future times can be if we are stimulated, prodded, pushed and otherwise compelled to evolve out of our dysfunctional beliefs, habits and general brainwashing about how things are and how they’re supposed to be. The time for compromising your values or soul-instincts in order to please others and just get along in the Matrix is becoming more untenable with each transit.
This New Moon is only part of the energy that is ripping away the veils from our eyes. It’s activated and activating Uranus in Aries (retrograde) and that guy is traveling in close proximity with his feminine counterpart, the dwarf planet Eris. Eris is like a biker chick that’s looking to disturb your civilised sensibilities. The other activation is the inconjunct (tension) between the New Moon and Chiron retrograde in Pisces. This placement will ask all of us what our deepest despairs, losses and childhood wounds have been, and we will need to feel them, not intellectualize them. No room in the new paradigm for our unhealed inner child baggage. To be soft, yielding and compassionate with ourselves as we invite these soul parts back into the fold is the only way through the tension. It could get very edgy and a bit messy…let it do that. Diplomacy may be in short supply, as there are sudden shocks and insights regarding significant others that may upset your previous assumptions.
Venus and Saturn are the Razor’s Edge Gang today and over the next few days. In a close and tense square to one another, Venus demands a high level of ethics in Virgo…a purity of intent and purpose, while Saturn in Sagittarius is like a prosecuting attorney, pushing the defendant (you, other, or both) to come clean with the truth. Hear that sound? That’s because the veil of illusion and denial getting ripped apart.
Have a box of Kleenex nearby at all times.
Now on to the next order of business, which is about Jupiter and Venus conjunct in Virgo, and which will be in a trine Pluto in Capricorn on October 16th. Perhaps it’s time to watch the markets again.
Business as usual is going to also be undergoing the gravitational crunch over the next few months/years. The old models will be disintegrating at a more accelerated pace. Our economic model is currently fueled by two factors – greed or fear. There’s an astrological art known as mundane astrology that has been tracking trends in the financial and business world since before the last crash in 2008, and they were mostly right about that one happening. Now these astrologers are sounding the alarm bells that we may be headed into another not-so-nice situation, mainly because the fundamentals that caused the downturn in 2008 have never been addressed. In case you think I’m making this stuff up, take a moment to look at some of the headlines. Investors are paying attention...especially to the situation in China. This is only one article, but many governments and financial institutions are getting nervous, or creating the nervousness. Read more about it here.
Can our business model be reformed? For a number of reasons it’s very doubtful. I remember in the 90’s that some people who were awakening spiritually thought it would be possible to hang out in the corporate arena and effect change from the inside out. As former U.S. President Jimmy Carter discovered the hard way, it was easier to campaign on the promise to completely reform the U.S Federal governmental bureaucracy than it was to actually do it. And, as Buckminster Fuller recommended, we will need to invent something new and better to take the place of hyper-capitalism and neo-liberal policies (austerity is good for you!). You probably sense that all is not well with our financial and economic systems, and this is another reason the anxiety is at an all-time high. Perhaps higher than the Dow Jones Index on the Wall Street! The whole planet is operating from a place of cortisol poisoning. Don’t try to ignore it, because it’s not going to go away until we face facts and the truth of our illusions (Virgo-Sagittarius).
One of the primary energies this week is to download your own Soul Program. This will, by its very nature, not be what your mind will think it might be. Your “mission” is unique to you, and, it is integral with everyone else’s mission in one sense or another. You might find yourself outside of the mainstream, and wonder where your tribe/family/allies are hiding out. You may still try to operate within the “system” and it will work for the time being, until it no longer feeds your soul. One thing to assiduously avoid in any case is the idea of spiritual significance. In other words, you and your being here is no more or less important than another soul’s mission or purpose. Cooperation will have to replace the old ideas of competition. You just need to ask for it and cooperate with it, without trying to define it...for now anyway.
It would also be useful to examine some of our unconscious language we utilize in the marketplace and our lives. Here’s one example of what I’m talking about.
For all of us who are in the helping professions, life coaches, therapists, healers, bodyworkers and so forth, I’d recommend ditching the overused and well-worn term “client”. The origin of the word “client” is as follows:
Origin of client:
Old French ; from Classical Latin cliens, follower, retainer ; from Indo-European base an unverified form klei-, to lean, as in Classical Latin clinare (see incline); basic sense, “one leaning on another (for protection)”
Read more at http://www.yourdictionary.com/client#gJat6GGMGuD7eVWp.99
According to one of the Merriam -Webster’s Dictionary references, a client as “a person who engages the professional services of another; also: “patron, customer”. But get this, the first definition is “dependent.”
A health coach I know told me that she likes to think of those that come to her that she’s a professional friend for them. That’s a new clarity in the business relationship…being there as a friend!
It’s so ironic. We are all striving to become more self-actualized and self-sufficient, and at the same time we run the risk of becoming dependent on our “clients” and they become dependent on us. The therapeutic model needs an upgrade too. I look around and am amazed that our culture now demands so much of us, and a lot of folks are finding it harder and harder just to keep up. A larger swath of the population than ever before is in therapy, or on medication…or needs to be. Coaching and therapies are proliferating exponentially, and at the same time things are still getting crazier. Just noticing, and wondering if there’s something we’re missing in the equation.
I feel that what most of us really want is quite basic, and very human. We want to feel good!!
We all are Love, and crave love. Finding and feeling acceptance with one another is giving voice to love. To be listened to, seen and deeply understood is love in action. To be enfolded, and to be cherished…just for being human is Love demonstrated. To feel secure in our intimacies, in our strengths and in our vulnerabilities is Love as Protector. To just feel what it would be like without so much striving, stress and worry would be welcome. Should not Life be more than jumping from one stress management and coping mechanism to another? That in itself produces more stress…trying to find things to reduce stress. Do we have to reach the breaking point in order to change? We are so imaginative, inventive and creative…gifts that beg to be made manifest will begin to emerge from the crucible of change, the ripping of the veil. Welcome to the new normal.
Perhaps the planetary eco-emergency is something that will actually propel humanity into sanity again. I don’t know for sure, but we obviously need to behave differently if we, and most of the other species on this world, are to do more than survive. To thrive will require a spiritual renaissance, but I feel it will be more a shamanic and neo-pagan movement than something etherically spiritual, aka the "New Age." Empty yourself of all that you thought you knew…beginner’s mind is required today, tomorrow, and for the next millennia.
I recommend more a return to miracle-mindedness. “A miracle is something that looks impossible, but happens anyway.” That little gem was delivered by a character named Griffin (picture above) in the film “Men in Black 3”. I like it a lot! What we may be on the threshold of discovering is how we can integrate the practical and the magical, the pragmatic and the shamanic. It certainly sounds and looks a whole lot more sustainable and fun than the old model!
Let the veil fall from your eyes, or rip it away, and behold yourself new and renewed. You will see things that have been hidden, that have tranced you out, or numbed you from your true identity. Allow the illusions to crumble, let the child within heal, and may your warrior/lover arise from the ashes of the old order. It’s a New Moon…it’s a new day…it’s a new world, if you want it.
The Total/Lunar/Super/Blood Eclipse
by Isaac George
27 September 2015
The only constant is change. And the more things change, the more they stay the same. Ahh, the Mystery of the Paradox. Life will continue beyond this Full Moon/ Lunar Eclipse/Blood Moon/Harvest Moon, and there will still be unfinished business to attend to over the next six months…or longer. Depending on your perceptions and situation that may sound like welcome or unwelcome news. However, the bottom line as I feel it is this is just another alarm clock ringing to wake us all up. The ringing of the village church bell did the same for folks long before there were clocks, and in the Far East it might have been the drone of Tibetan trumpets. Nonetheless, the call to awaken is happening.
I liken an eclipse to the ringing of large bell, and the tone and harmonics takes a while to die away. There will be another striking of that large celestial bell next March, which could be considered a future bookmark to the one coming up tomorrow in the U. S., and early Monday morning in Asia and Europe. A bookend holds a book up. A bookmark holds a place for you in the book where you've finished a section or chapter, and you intend to return to it at a later time. A completed cycle is like a pair of bookends holding up the book or books. The real bookend event is the upcoming end of the Nodes of the Moon traveling through Libra and Aries. There's a beginning, in this case March 20th-22nd of 2014, and there's moment of crossing the finish line, which will occur around October 10th, 2015, when they move into Virgo and Pisces. The celestial bookmark moment will be with this Total Lunar Eclipse, and the next one will be the Annular (Partial) Lunar Eclipse on March 23rd, 2016. (See attached charts below)
Much has already been written about this "Blood Moon" so I won't revisit the points already made by many very good fellow astrologers. I certainly have stepped back a bit about this one being the big Ending of everything that has transpired in our relationships over the past 18 to 24 months. I also don't buy into any apocalyptic scenarios.
Some are speculating that it may have something to do with Ascension and Wave X. There is an increase of anomalous events and experiences, of that there is no question. I've had missing time, even a missing day, and my visual and auditory senses are shifting and changing. Perhaps Wave X has come, maybe gone, or is out to lunch. Hard to speculate whether this or that date or event is the Big Deal. Personally, I'm not too keen any longer on there ever being such a thing. It's a process, and even though it feels like acceleration, it is still an evolutionary process. At least that's the way it appears and feels to our filters.
In 1997 I was an avid listener of the Art Bell syndicated radio show "Dreamland" in the United States. He penned a book with another writer called "The Quickening", and many predictions about ascension and mass awakenings were foretold for the years 2000 and 2001. What we got instead was a fizzle for the supposed Y2K "millennium bug", followed by the 9/11 attacks, and then the War on Terror. Astrologers were watching and reading other signs of the times before this, and the upcoming Saturn - Pluto opposition clearly indicated that the "party like its 1999" (Prince) was not going to continue into the next decade. We are also still currently under the influence of the Uranus-Pluto cycle, and this Eclipse transpires with four planets in retrograde: Neptune, Chiron, Mercury and Uranus. This tends to color the game a bit, especially with Mercury in Libra. That "other" event, the End of the Mayan calendar in December 2012, may actually be evident in the breakdowns (and some breakups) happening. So perhaps that was the real deal...and it'll just take a long time to unravel. I feel that what this Eclipse challenges us about is to foster cooperation and partnering and and to consider it from a whole new level of Consciousness. Saturn and Pluto are direct, and for the time being Saturn is in the "too early" degrees to make much of a dent in the current energies. He'll be more of a factor by early December.
In the meantime, what can we do with this opportunity? The Sun and Moon are at 4 degrees of Libra and Aries, and yes, they are very close to the North and South Nodes of the Moon, which are at the Super Galactic Center Zero Degree, or World Axis degree. But close only counts in horseshoes, and I defer to the new Eclipse season in March 2016 as the possible final reckoning for what we've been experiencing thus far this year and in 2014. My mind wants to parrot what many others have been saying, as in whatever was happening with you and any significant "others" during the transit of the Nodes in Aries -Libra (and the Venus Retrograde this past summer) then that's it, done and dusted, kiss it all bye-bye. Hmmm… not so fast.
We are human beings. We have a need to relate. We are dependent upon each other as we are for sunlight, water, an oxygen rich atmosphere and good topsoil. Yes, we love our independence and freedom, but without anyone to share it with, we would start to feel like the character Tom Hanks played in the movie Cast Away. His only friend was a volleyball he named Wilson. What I feel this Eclipse is about is a call to reassess our relationship to Human Relationships (and lots more!). Too often we reject the unknown for the known, thinking it's the more practical or pragmatic route. Sometimes we go to an extreme in the other direction, and become lost in the "Other", or in the ideal of Love. Somewhere in the middle there may be a sweet spot, a place where magic and romance can meet practicality and sustainability. Goodness knows that we still have a lot of clean-up work to do around the baggage of hurt we share individually and collectively in affairs of the heart. We are told not to lose our head in love and relationships, but too often that is exactly what needs to happen, because all of our stories and associated emotions are bound up into one big protective ego dance.
A week ago I stumbled across this image on Facebook that I felt initially attracted to, perhaps because of a recent personal experience with someone I feel very close to. Inside my head, I could hear my wounded little not-self egging me on, saying "yeah, so and so has the wrong heart…just blow that off!" When I looked at again I realized what I was engaged in, and immediately saw that the image and its message was like someone else's pain trying to divide my love for this person and turn it into a judgmental hate. I've been seeing a lot of these types of messages lately, and they're dressed up to sound like they are encouraging our sovereignty and designed to get us out of victim consciousness. However I feel that there is message underneath, trying to drive wedges between people by creating mistrust and fear. It certainly plays well to our old wounds and hurts...creating reactions instead of healing. Perhaps we are just all trying too hard to be strong all the time, and now it's being exploited. By who or what isn't the point here, so I'll leave that for the Reader to ponder for now. When I finally commented on this image in the Facebook post, I wrote: "There are no wrong hearts... only confused ones. And they ache to be loved too."
As I was writing this blog, I also stumbled on to this article about our personal and interpersonal need to belong, to connect. According to the author, Bethany Webster, our primary need is to feel connected and attached to others. Bonding is the fabric that is so important in many mammalian societies. Dolphins are one example, and Bonobo chimps are another. Our drive to individuate is normal and healthy, but there are caveats. The so-called "war" between the sexes is one of the wedges that preys on our separation anxieties…separation from Source, from our birth mother, from Nature, and from each other. Disconnection, or the strategy of divide and conquer, is at the heart of most religions (us versus "them") and political systems (liberals versus conservatives). Our penchant for labels and naming has landed us in branding hell, and now we sense that all is not as it was intended to be. Click to read the full article: http://womboflight.com/2015/09/25/raw-open-and-real-moving-from-traumatic-aloneness-to-universal-oneness/
What all this has to do with the Eclipse tonight/tomorrow, and the road ahead, is that I feel that our need for connection and our need for honoring and cultivating new beliefs and behaviors in our relationships is inexorably bound up with the call to pay attention to the much bigger issues facing us as a species. Is our economic model sustainable, and will we avert ecocide in time? Can we cast aside enough of our isolationist and egocentric tendencies that we come to actually care for the strangers in our midst? This may be what part of the Syrian refugee crisis is about. One thing feels certain…we only are given a certain amount of time to align in collaboration with the Planetary Evolutionary (and Cosmic) impulse before higher laws and powers overtake us and force changes necessary for planetary survival. Note that I don't necessarily include us in that prerogative, but I heartily enjoin us to consider what will happen if we choose to continue as we have been. The Chinese have a saying - "if you don't change your direction, you'll end up where you're headed." Or, something like that.
The microcosm and the Macrocosm are infinitely linked…as within, so without, and as above, so below. How we respond to our current individual challenges and the challenges in our relationships, and our response to the global questions I stated above will determine our individual and collective journey ahead. This Eclipse is one of the bookmarks. Yes, some relationships may have to end in order for a change of belief to occur - or a change of belief must occur in order that the right people can line up to create a new paradigm on many levels.
The change of the Nodal Signs is one of the bookends. The next chapter will be read and hopefully understood by next March. We have the time just now, but do we have the trust, will courage and love to do what is necessary? We don't need to trash the people that we've loved or let go of people we care about with rancour or in a vengeful way. What we desperately need though is to let go of the beliefs, wounds, attitudes and suspicions that poison our perceptions and erode the Love that we are, and that gave birth to our existence. Whatever this Eclipse may mean to you, it certainly represents another clearing being made in order for us to claim the opportunities that lie ahead. Knowing is the science of faith, and with Saturn in Sagittarius for the next few years, our faith and beliefs will be tested.
Joy and love are the main ingredients for successfully embracing the healing being offered in these times. It will be the joy of letting go of what no longer serves while loving ALL of you, no matter what you think about your stuff. That goes double about how you perceive the reflections of all the other souls around you. Be gentle with them, and with yourself because Sun in Libra is the ultimate balancing act.
And remember…don't look down!

“Welcome to the new normal!” This was a favorite quip of a friend of mine that I first heard after my kundalini awakening got under way in the spring and summer of 1994. Such a prophetic and timeless phrase, and perfect for these timeless times as well. What is the “new normal”? Well, that depends on the day of the week now, as it is ever –changing.
I know it’s been a while since my last post, but I’ve been inside of one of my ‘transformational’ episodes. And I had my birthday this past week. No, it doesn’t matter which one, but I do find it had significant astrology backing me up. The Jupiter-Venus conjunction in the evening skies, which has gotten a lot of attention in social media and elsewhere, was happening right on my birthday (June 30th). The Sun is a wake-up call, shining a light on things. The Moon is a reflective thing, uncovering the shadows. The Jupiter-Venus thing is like a hot date with loads of heart energy. Well, I’m ready to rock and roll I reckon…but what shall my heading be? With Mars next to my Sun degree, and Pluto and Moon all cosy together over in Capricorn, and all of it squaring the Nodes of the Moon…I feel, well, a bit like a pirate heading out on a new adventure. I sure would like to have Captain Jack Sparrow’s magic compass. Oh yes, mateys, THAT compass! Savvy?
You see, I’m a movie buff. I feel movies contain messages, as do books, fine art and music. Poetry has loads of messages...amazing stuff. But movies are quite my favorite art form for a number of reasons. In any case, the compass in this particular set of films symbolizes something each and every one of us deals with. Those somethings are “desire” and “choice”. Ahh, desire. According to the Buddha, that cause of all suffering and pain in the human condition, this constant craving that K.D. Lang sings about, the unrequited hunger that is the fuel for the ego’s ambitions. But without the Desire, there wouldn’t even be an “us”, or a Universe, or this planet. The nature of desire had to come from somewhere and from something, don’t you think?
Here’s another way to look at it. Instincts are what the animals have, and we have them too. Over thousands of years we’ve tried to repress or suppress them, tried to civilize ourselves. In the process we’ve trained ourselves not to trust our instinctual natures, and this has probably led to all sorts of psychological issues…and the burying of them en masse. Clinical psychology began as a way to understand primal urges and delve into the first layers of the subconscious mind. As a science, it’s still in its infancy. The latest findings in neurobiology is showing us that our conscious minds aren’t as all powerful as we have previously imagined, and the subconscious and the superconscious levels are at the root of our decision-making processes. Even our interpretation of the external environment affects us in more ways than we realize. For more information, read these articles just recently published: http://medicalxpress.com/news/2015-06-consciousness-believed-theory.html and http://www.lifetrainings.com/Your-unconscious-mind-is-running-you-life.html.
Where I’m going with all of this is that in order to desire and actualize a new world, a new Earth if you will, we may have to alter our spiritual rules and perspectives about what our humanness is all about, and what our role within the framework of Nature might be. Curiosity helps, as does a willingness to jettison belief systems that are now an encumbrance rather than an asset. We need a new magic compass. We need to become the Pirates of Consciousness, willing to sail intrepidly into the unknown. This Compass is our intuition and instinct, and by merging consciously with it we return to the proverbial primordial state, but wide awake this time. To do this, our compass needs to be guided by our intelligent empathy, not the old “business as usual” left-brain drive and planning.
A friend and fellow stargazer refers to this potential new way of being as “yintegrity”. His perspective is that our new sense of needing community (Age of Aquarius) needs to be balanced with our emerging “yindependence”; the valuing of self for Self’s sake. This cannot be realized as a naturally empowered state at the expense or cost of isolating ourselves from each other, Nature, or the wider Cosmos. It is a huge shift from competition to cooperation. The past on this planet has been all about power games…who has the most energy and how do I get some of that? Rather parasitic in practice and a no-win for everyone concerned. That’s what keeps the Karmageddon game going.
Hey, back to the cinema for a moment. On my birthday I saw a new flick entitled “Tomorrowland”. This film is a must-see I feel, because it encapsulates all of the great problems and crises we currently face, and addresses how it is useless to become aware of our problems and go into despair and dystopian outcomes. In the story we see the optimist balanced against the pessimist within all of us, and in a classic twist of the old “end of the world as we know it” genre, provides some novel perspectives of how we can and should change our current trajectory. As the old adage goes, if you don’t change your direction, you’ll end up where you’re headed.
"Tomorrowland" aptly demonstrates the power of the individual (Yintegrity +Yindependence) when coupled with the community at large, creating interdependence and mutual benefit. This was most uplifting for me when I saw it, because although we all need to feel powerful and sovereign as individuals, we also have a need to share that power and our gifts with those around us if we are to have any meaning and purpose to our lives.
Power is such an issue these days isn’t it? I feel that our current concept of power is driven by fear, not Love. We feel we need to reclaim our power over our experience, or from others, and yet, when I look up into the vastness of the Cosmos, I feel that we don’t really understand the ramifications of what power is really about, or where it resides truthfully. I mean, really, we are all part of one power, one Life. You can’t “own” your power, because ultimately, you can’t own anything. This doesn’t mean you are owned by anything either, unless you allow yourself to be. Perhaps we will discover the true nature of power in a similar way to the Jedi philosophy from the Star Wars films. In that tradition (thanks George Lucas) the Force is a universal cooperative, intelligent and benign energy that emanates through all of Creation as it creates it. A Jedi merely learns or remembers to align with it, and then as he or she comes to direct it, it is symbiotically directing the individual too. The distinction between doer and deed blurs until there is a seamless flow of unity between cause and effect, problem and solution. It is a spiral of evolution through cooperation, not entropy through competition and predation.
Recently someone sent some channelled information about the current conditions on our planet, and that unless there is a big shift soon we’re essentially out of time and luck. While there was an exhortation offered to engage in a positive thought process at a particular time and day in the near future, I feel that just meditating about a solution, or attempting to transcend the issues, doesn’t really cut it any longer. I used to think this stuff mattered and worked, and now I don’t think it so. If our intentions aren’t actionable, and translate into something tangible, it’s like wishful thinking and it will garner wishful results…in other words, not much really changes. Time we took our blinkers off and took a good hard look at our belief systems and see if they’re really useful any longer. If we keep doing the same thing over and over again in the hopes that something will change, and so far I don’t see how it’s really been changing things that much, then that is insanity. (Click here for the truth of where that concept came from) Positive thinking is just one component, and it will take a whole lot more than just that to shift the river into a new course. Remember, our power and our decision-making processes are still barely conscious!
How does Jack’s Magic Compass figure into my theme? Well, if we are truly inheritors of limitless potential, and we align with our truest nature and desire, then our ‘compass’ – the guidance system at the core of our heart and Soul, will always point us towards the highest experience and outcome that is possible. A win-win for all concerned, as it were. When we follow our spirit, like Captain Jack Sparrow, we align with the Force, and therefore we can cooperate with a power that is greater than any single individual. When we engage and utilize this power to uplift others, find solutions, and discover what we haven’t yet dreamed of discovering, then anything truly becomes possible. If everyone aligns with their spirit, soul and heart, then…what might happen?
Yo ho, me hearties!

March 14th, 2015
This month has a load of astrological markers that are quite significant on their own, but it is the synthesis that is most intriguing. If you are not savvy with astrology terminology or the use of archetypes, the technical side can be a bit daunting and distracting. I’ll try to minimize the astro-babble and focus on the feel and meaning of these times, and more importantly, how best to respond to them. For those of you who do follow astrology, and know a bit about your own charts, the areas of highest sensitivity for this month are planets, asteroids or chart angles between the 8th to 17th degrees of Aries, Libra, Cancer and Capricorn, and Leo.
This is the second installment in a three-part series. If you missed the first segment, click here to read it.
Week of March 15th to the 21st – “Mission…Possible!”
“We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful what we pretend to be.” Kurt Vonnegut
We begin the week fully in the energy of the 7th and final square between Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn. This will occur this Tuesday, March 16th, at 2:22am GMT (UT). There are also some significant triggers preceding this point, such as Saturn turning retrograde at 4 degrees of Sagittarius yesterday (March 14th) and the Moon meeting up with Pluto in Capricorn today at 9:19am GMT (UT). This coming Friday there is a partial Solar Eclipse at 29 degrees of Pisces at 9:35am GMT (UT), followed by the Spring Equinox when the Sun ingresses into Aries at 10:46pm GMT (UT). All charts are provided at the end of this article. For more detailed information about the Solar Eclipse, just click here.
Now that that’s handled, I’ll flesh out my feeling/knowing about what’s happening…
We are all on a ‘mission’. Our souls have a big agenda, or we wouldn’t be here at this time on this world. One of the things about this notion is that it is essential to see that everyone else is on a mission too, so you have loads of company, and no one is better or lesser equipped than another; just uniquely equipped, as it were. I’ve titled this blog “Mission…Possible!” because in spite of there being so much change and flux and intensity, this is not a negative situation we find ourselves in. Sure, letting go of the familiar, even that which has been a fixture of love, attention, security or familiarity in our lives looks “negative”, or is viewed as a loss, as this is a judgment from our ego. Face it, egos dislike change….intensely. But the new landscape will be quite different from our old familiar territory.
Our egos (our little kid) have been under a lot of pressure during the Uranus-Pluto cycle, which really began in the summer of 2012. We must deal with all the hurts, disappointments and injustices it suffered over the decades since we arrived here. All this got really triggered after the 6th Square, around Dec.15th, 2014.
Secondly, it does not like feeling abandoned or ignored. It has NEEDS, and we better listen to it or else we’re going to find ourselves dragging a squirming tantrum into the future with us. None of us will be able to afford that bill as this year progresses. In order to fully manifest and realize our purpose for being here, we will have to integrate our unconscious bits quite dramatically, and also very lovingly and compassionately.
Part of this work centers around redefining our view about our natures. We are human, and we do possess a spark of divinity, a quality of self-awareness and imagination. However, we are also human animals, and do share a connection to the Gaia, the planetary consciousness, and all of the other biological forms here. Our planet is also known as the Magna Mater – the “Great Mother.” Actually, that’s an old Gnostic term for Nature in general, no matter where it arises in the Cosmos. They also called her “Sophia”, the Wisdom Goddess, and wisdom is a weapon we’ll need after the major shifting we currently find ourselves embroiled in.
We are all interconnected in a profound way, as if we were one organism, with each person constellated in such a way as to provide a particular service or gift to all other parts of ‘us’ that are in need of such support. This is the basis for real communing, or community. It is touted as the primary quality of the coming Age of Aquarius.
One aspect of the Solar Eclipse this Friday is that the Sun and Moon meet at 29 degrees of Pisces, the ultimate end of a Zodiacal cycle that began around 200 B.C.E. In other words, the imminent end of the Great Age of Pisces may be upon us. Look at the glyph for Pisces…two Fish swimming in opposite directions. This represents the rise of self-reflection, the expansion of the ego, and the sense of separateness from Nature and each other that has marked this Age. Perspectives were “either/or”, and hardly ever, “both/and”. It gave rise to Darwinian Theory, competition, scarcity and poverty consciousness, etc. One might argue that this began when agriculture was invented, and we stopped living in small foraging tribes. However, during the last 2,200 years we really excelled in creating a power over, victim-perpetrator game that has brought us to the edge of ecocide, and species extinction. Our psyches are exhausted and trying to catch up with the evolutionary pressures brought to bear. We are extolled to “evolve or perish” now, and it is imperative that we do so to avert disaster.
Years ago I read a book entitled “The Coming of the Feminine Christ”, by Dr.Niamh Clune. The standout quote from this work was “only the Awakened Heart can avert the apocalypse.” I strongly feel that is a truth worth reflecting upon as we encounter the planetary agents of change in our midst. Our hearts must awaken, our souls must be given reign over the egoist concerns of survival and personality. This is the test of Uranus in Aries, which is the Sacred Warrior of the Aquarian principle facing up to Pluto in Capricorn, the defender of the Established Order of the previous Age. Each archetype has a light and shadow aspect. On the dark side Uranus is change at all costs and Pluto is ruthless about power. The enlightened side of Uranus is community, and the expansion of “Yintegrity”, or doing what you want when you want to. The shiny side of Pluto (is there one?) is deep and profound shamanic transformation, leading to lasting change, whether you personally like it or not.
New opportunities are before us. We are called upon to own our mastery, our mission. I am coming to view the term “mastery” in a new way, more like a kind of Jedi Knight. Instead of some impossible ideal of divine-human perfectionism, this mastery is about full authenticity and vulnerability. Sometimes we can flow with the Force, and achieve amazing things. Sometimes, the Force does not cooperate, and we need to just grow still, nurture ourselves and listen. At other times we can wield the power within us at will, and at other times, it’s Will with have its way with us. Wisdom comes from listening to the ebb and flow and responding, rather than pushing and shoving.
Trying to do 'power over', with all the inherent abuses, is not going to work anymore. Everyone is becoming too sensitive to the amount of fraud rampant on the planet right now, and any attempts to use power to gain an advantage over another will boomerang. Let’s just say that karma may be instantaneous, and leave it at that.
Yes, practicality will be required. Getting your hands dirty and working hard will definitely be required. That’s Saturn for you. The next cycle we enter is Saturn-Neptune, and it will require discernment, hard work, and also a respect for process of bringing ideas and ideals into form. Not everything you want, or think you want, will be necessarily good for you or for others. This is the Neptune part…releasing your dreams and desires to your Soul for a more balanced manifestation to materialize. As previously stated, we still have to contend with the Old Order, the 1% who refuse to give up their greed and ‘power over’ game. Be careful it doesn't infect your heart’s true desires.
There will be a bit less pushing and shoving with Saturn going into retrograde. That doesn’t mean you will be idle and contemplating your navel till August 2nd. What it means is that this is a time of review. Your course may be cluttered with pictures of reality that no longer serve you, or others. The past may be incompatible with your present and your vision (mission, desire) for the future. This is like “remedial lessons” time for some folks…another chance to tidy up loose ends before really moving into your Soul’s direction.
Uranus-Pluto will ask you to move from horizontal reference to vertical reference. Connect within, and connect to Galactic Core (7th Chakra) and Sophia-Gaia-Earth (1st Chakra). You are an embodiment of Life...not a struggling human (that’s the old Piscean mentality of divide and conquer, sacrifice and abandonment). It will also empower you in such a way as to finally leave old contracts and commitments that no longer serve you.
The Solar Eclipse is also about realizing your innate power and gifts. This is a time to really shed some skins around the old “no power” or “abuse of power” syndrome most of us have had imprinted in us. As Saturn moves deeper into Sagittarius next year, it will begin to expose more of the false power matrix, especially in politics and religion, and then the true effects of embracing our innate power will have the potential for hammering out real social change. It begins with one person at a time, and then multiplies exponentially. The Eclipse is sort of a death-knell for organized politics and religion anyway. Saturn will expose much, and the remaining energy of the Uranus-Pluto square and this Eclipse will continue the crumbling of static and outworn structures, from the personal level to the global stage.
One note of caution – eclipses are tricky, and since there’s a Lunar Eclipse at 14 degrees of Aries-Libra on April 4th it could distort some of the things you thought you were previously clear about. In other words, no final decisions about some things will be available until after the Saturn retrograde is completely resolved – around mid-November. I’ll address this in more depth in the final installment of this series this coming Saturday, March 21st.

“If you cannot directly face your sexuality, you will never discover your true spirituality.” - From the Taoist text “The Bamboo Immortal” c.1748.*
The river of Life has, and is, creating a torrent of change in my own personal universe. Since publishing Part 2 of “Finding Love – The Purpose of Attraction” on July 14th, I had originally titled the third part of this series as “Sexual Healing, Eros and Heart Therapy”. But now I’m having a laugh…for Life does intrude when you’re making other plans. Obviously the times have changed since mid-July, and so has the title. I too have changed, and so have my personal circumstances. Nonetheless, the way is clearer within and without to bring this particular series of articles to a close.
We all are looking for love and a sense of belonging and security, and so seldom do we find it. Or when we think we’ve found it, something always seems to be missing or it all goes awry. We are now being exhorted almost daily to love ourselves instead of looking outside for fulfilment or happiness in our relationships. “If only I were more spiritually-minded, and more self-sufficient, or loved myself more, I would be happier…”, or so the spiel goes.
The very innate human desire and longing for meaningful connection with not only other humans, but also with non-human life and the wider Universe is at the core of our souls and awareness. We are inherently capable of behaving in a kindly and loving way, so why is happiness and the experience of love that we know we should experience seem so elusive?
To deeply surrender to Love that occurs in a seemingly serendipitous way requires a certain degree of ego death and a temporary relinquishing of our usually strong sense of self-identification, and that can cause big problems. Fear enters the picture. Projection replaces perception, and whoever has the most ‘self’ to lose will tend to retreat hastily back into the safety of the familiar. A dear friend and professional therapist describes this place as the abode of “comfortable uncomfortableness”. Then, when the coast is clear, these souls will come out of their shell and gradually wonder what it was that may have happened, followed by a sense of grieving or relief. Usually, the searching for ‘it’ starts all over at some point in the future.
Now this is an oversimplification of the nature of Love, and I don’t mean to imply that all encounters with Love that have a capital “L” are predicated on meeting one’s soul mate or twin soul. However, this notion cannot be dismissed entirely and nor should it be held up as the only way that any human being can come in contact with Love or Eros as part of The Mystery.
Indeed, many have touched the face of Love, or shall I say been touched by it, during some of the most ordinary moments one could imagine. Moments in Nature or just staring at the stars in the night sky can evoke a sense of awe that is a prerequisite for entering into the sublime state that the Mystery of Love offers. We all long for that which will take us out of our small selves, and expand us into something greater than our sense of “I”, and we do sometimes desire it to be a shared experience with another human being. This is where real poetry comes from. And the “Other” in song, prose and poetry is just another “you” after all. Though some may view the human fascination and need for deep bonding as co-dependent, I prefer to recognize in it the core of interdependence that underscores and validates the very web of Life.
“The Sin of Original Guilt”
I coined the above term for a chapter in my book “What Really Matters: A Guide for Spiritual Awakening” in 2007. It means something different to me now, as I’ve been shedding many belief systems over the past year. A good example of this turn of phrase is covered in Wilhelm Reich’s book “The Function of the Orgasm”, which wasn’t just about the potential for human beings to realize and accept their sexuality and capacity for pleasure. It was a vivid and impassioned condemnation of salvation-based religions and the patriarchal notions that gave birth to it. He equates the deliberate suppression of our sensuality as the main cause for the rise and existence of fascist tendencies and movements. To believe, even in the slightest, that we were ‘born into sin’ is to make a grave error that ends only in paroxysms of shame and guilt. We feel like victims of circumstance, which is not a very healthy state of affairs. Even worse, we then find that we are now separate from our own natures and Nature itself.
As a species, we seem to have inherited a manipulative program, a deception that colours how we perceive ourselves and our relationship to love, to each other, and to the Life Force itself. Think about it; if you have to be ‘commanded’ to love, as we are told in Christianity, then why? When you love someone or something, you are just responding to what love is and does. You don’t need commandments, or threats of punishment, in order to make you a good and loving person. So, the trick of shame and guilt that has been handed down to us for over seventy generations has done immense damage, to our psyches, to other humans and life forms, and it is now this distortion threatens the very biosphere itself. So, how do we heal ourselves…how do we end the suffering, depression, violence and confusion?
“Return to the Garden”
“Religion protects man, so long as its foundations are not revealed.” - Rene Girard, “Violence and the Sacred”
A major part of our growth will be to learn what it means to love ourselves. That cannot happen if we still are invested in the false story of humanity, about its so-called “Fall” and it’s Redemption through some non-human extra-terrestrial means. We must reforge our connection to the planetary sentience of Gaia, through Nature, and refute the doctrine of the victim-perpetrator bond that is at the core of redeemer-based religions. Our sexual and spiritual healing must come from more than immersion in Tantric practices, techniques and philosophies, as these are still human inventions that arose out of a culture steeped in patriarchy-based spirituality, and which carries the seed of the belief that we must transcend the flesh in order to realize our inherent divinity. The body is the Soul, expressed.
In terms of so-called ‘modern’ or contemporary spirituality, there have been some recent but minute shifts away from transcendental philosophies that regard Nature, the physical body and material world as impediments to self-realization and holistic living. The New Age, with its obsession on ascension and merging into some elevated super-human state of mastery, misses the mark entirely. The Anthropos, the genomic core of human identity, is already divine, already connected to the divine spark that is both Goddess and Earth-based. It is already in harmony with the benign and generous Originator that dreams and emerges through all that exists.
Upon closer examination, non-dualism is another strategy…a lofty view that holds material reality as inferior and illusory. It is the mirror image of another aberrant belief...split-source duality, the belief that evil and good can come from the same Source.
It is interesting to note that the original meaning of ‘Maya’ is not illusion. It is the appearance of illusion. Bump your head and you will feel it! And the more you try for stillness, the more you will encounter the Life Force…in constant and passion-filled motion. Underneath the quietest landscape the telluric currents of Life are swirling. We can become still to observe it, but we cannot and should not endeavour to distance ourselves from it. This is one of our core errors, the religion of self-reflection, which has been useful, but which we now need a bit less of if we are going to discover our true natures. The world needs less mindfulness and more soulfulness.
“The Future of Love”
What I can recommend to you, the Reader, is to start where you are and look objectively at all of your belief systems, sacred cows and cherished pets. Are they really your core structures? Do they feel liberating or stifling? Can you change them, and if so, what would you change to? Ask yourself, really honestly, what your role might be in the repatriation of your humanity to its original intent. How would that look, feel, sound, feel or taste like? Where are you avoiding being embodied? Where do you retreat to when you feel ‘less than’ or shameful, and do you feel weak or inferior when you cannot deal with uncomfortable emotions or challenging people and situations? For your own sake, don’t feel like you have to be supermen or superwomen, and think you ought to be over this or that. Seek out help and counsel if necessary, as we are not designed to operate as closed systems of consciousness.
Love a lot…whatever that might be. Nurture and be nurtured. Fall in love, get and give cuddles, cook and enjoy food, dancing, sunrises, walks on the beach in bare feet, your sensuality…just connect with whomever or whatever and be fully present, fully engaged. To fall in love again and again is not an error. Only not learning and growing from your mistakes leads to error. The future of Love depends on our expression of it, both towards ourselves and outwardly towards others. In actuality, there is no ‘falling’ in love. What falls is our resistance to Love.
Love is always there for the finding, because it always seeks Itself. Soulmates are proof of that. The Garden of Eden is a state of happiness. Happiness is possible to a heart that is open and believes. Gaia is awakening and wanting the best outcome possible for Her children, for all of us. Yes, it will feel like work...hard work, at times. And yes, you will notice more happiness as you shed the skins and the veils fall from your eyes, and the emotional scars heal. Then the Garden will be seen…in all of its glory and sweetness, within and without.
I leave you with the lyrics of from this old song, and recommend you have a good dance along with it when you have a chance.
“We are stardust, we are golden, we are billion year old carbon, and we got to get ourselves back to the garden.” – Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young (Woodstock)
