On that Tuesday morning 18 years I was still half awake on the West Coast when the phone rang. A friend on the Eastern seaboard let us know what was happening in New York City, and we got the television turned on just before the South Tower collapsed. However, even as my partner at the time was relaying what our friend was telling her over the phone, a small voice inside me whispered, “don’t panic, its all a setup.” I didn’t question that, and my whole body resonated with the truth that was implicit in it. What unfolded during that day, and the days and weeks and years since, has only reinforced that knowing – that it has all been a setup. I’ll get back to that concept in a minute.
Probably like you, I’ve never felt like I was from “here”. As a young child, I’d look up at the stars and think, “That’s home. Why am I here then?” I perceive that some of us certainly have lineages to other races and worlds out there, but our intrinsic story of how human beings came to be, and our part in that story, has been well hidden from us…on purpose. I’ve come to understand that when we long to go Home, it is a clue to a bonding trauma that our souls remember from a time deeply burned into our eternal memory banks. It is symbolic of our false belief in separation from Source Consciousness and Love. This did not come about because of a Fall, but because of a Push. The divine dream for our souls and for humanity was intended to be along a different road, with a different story, than what we have inherited on this Planet.
So we looked to the wisdom of the Ancients for answers, and delved into the old metaphysical texts and traditions, along the teachings from various Adepts and messages from Higher Beings beyond our world. A very few enlightened souls have pointed the way Home, but they have been few…too few.
During my life I’ve witnessed how those of us who are the Seekers have embraced and released many of these methods, traditions, beliefs and doctrines. Some aspects are full of Truth and worth keeping. Some have been proven to be full of hollow promises, and in some cases, vehicles for subtle enslavement or deception.
At the turn of the last Millennium many were strongly suspecting that a mass awakening would occur, and much on this world would be healed and a new era of love, compassion, cooperation and prosperity would envelope us. The environment would be respected…and repaired. Altruism would replace capitalism. This mass awakening would render the Old Order of politics and religions obsolete, creating the fertile ground for a universality of spiritual paths in which all were respected as roads that lead homeward. Then, the stolen election of 2000, followed by 9/11 happened. We went into collective shock.
In the run up to the Iraq War in early 2003, some of us joined with millions of regular people to voice our opposition to this opportunistic and dangerous war, only to be ignored by those we elected and trusted. From then until now, we continue to experience one shockwave after another…and it doesn’t seem to be letting up or getting better, no matter what individual efforts towards further spiritual growth and illumination we make. The reason for this does not lie in some fault in ourselves.
We hardly created the causes that have created the conditions in which we now find ourselves. However, if we continue to discover, embody and act from the place of the power of Love within us, we can affect the direction, change the course, make a huge difference. The time is short for this to occur. The acceleration of climatic change and ecological decay is obvious. What is also obvious is how the decay is now apparent system wide. All political surety around democracy is severely damaged, make everyone vulnerable to those who value power and greed above all else. The financial and monetary systems are corrupt, based on debt and fraud. The air isn’t fit to breath, the water fit to drink (and it’s under threat), and the food isn’t fit to eat. Just to survive, many are forced to ignore the larger issues and strive to make it from payday to payday in order to feed themselves and their families. Can anyone look around and think that this is what God-Goddess desires for human beings?
Our choice is obvious. Evolve or perish as a species, as Nature and the planet press the reset button and usher in a new eon that will not include humans and many other lifeforms. It’s happened before…five times.
Back to the “setup.” To be fully conscious and awake as a human being, to be a Spirit and not a ghost, we need to recognize that within us dwells the utmost ability to imagine and actualize a different outcome, and a different world. Not just for you and me, but for others, and those younger generations that are growing up even now. I may not see its fruition, but I will not stop trying and working to bring it about.
When all looks hopeless, it’s time to remember what faith looks and feels like. It’s time to surrender to that greater Power within us that gave us Life, and the power to imagine anything. It’s the power that creates Life, from the seed to the towering oak…almost effortlessly. The story can be different, but we first must attend to where we are holding onto beliefs, opinions, attachments or sacred cows that no longer serve. To that end, we can and must make the break from the world that we grew up in. That needs to happen in order that we do not repeat the errors of the past. The looping game stops with us, or we all stop.
But first, we will have to pass through the Eye of the Needle.
The next 18 months or so are very critical for all of us and the Earth. It should be a time in which we are willing to surrender and admit that none of us, individually or collectively, has all the answers to the big issues, or our own best good. Events in the outer reality are crystallizing towards a crescendo of crises unprecedented in the collective history of the planet. Astrological markers like the Pluto and Saturn in Capricorn contacts that started this year, will especially make a big noise during the first 5 months of 2020. This will test many. I don’t say this to scare everyone, but to bring awareness and channel powerful solutions both personally and collectively.
I understand perfectly if you’ve been feeling overwhelmed by all this. May I suggest trying what you haven’t tried before? If those inherited rituals, cultural indoctrinations, or the beliefs that you were told would make you enlightened aren’t working any longer, and you’re doing them out of habit, then perhaps you could try to follow your own wisdom in your heart. Let go of the rules and become a law unto yourself. We were designed in the image of Nature, or the Feminine spirit that dwells within Nature if you will. All Nature’s creatures know their nature and express it without censoring. They all value freedom above all else.
When we let go (heal) our inherited “stuff”, then our nature can shine through, and we can know a freedom no society or government can guarantee to us. The ego and all its fears and worries will gravitate to its rightful position as an instrument of the Soul’s evolution, and Spirit and Heart will regain the throne of the Self - knowing itself as itself and yet One with All That Is. This is the core of the work of transformation. To become fully human…a human embodying the Divine Dream. Then will we know Heaven on Earth.

“Slow down, you move to fast. You’ve got to make the moment last.” – Simon & Garfunkel
“If we valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.” – JRR Tolkien
“Look at Nature! All Nature loafs, while Man alone works for a living.” – Morton Tolboll
When we really tune into our experience of this world right now, and think back one, three, or even 10 years ago, would you say you are more content and satisfied, or less? Does everything make more sense to you, or less? Most importantly, do you have more time to spend enjoying the things that Life offers, or less? Even though everything is abstractly in the “now”, having enough time is, ironically, our most precious resource.
As you reflect on your own answers, I hope it turns out that you are more content, feel like more things are clearer to you, and that you are enjoying a load of time to be with your family, friends, and favorite pursuits. Congratulations, for you are part of a rare and possibly shrinking percentile of the population. If you are not experiencing this expanded state of life, then perhaps you’ll resonate with my call for the Slow Life.
My own perceptions about why it is that there is so much pressure, stress and anxiousness is as multidimensional as the causes themselves. Just some of the current causes are as follows:
Many people in our developed information-based societies are dancing as fast as possible to maintain their standard of living. A good deal more are staying just ahead of losing their livelihood, their income, or their home. Debt and debt service are at record highs. A good many sacrifice warmth and comfort just to be able to put food on the table for themselves and their families. The world is too busy trying to stave off collapse to notice that it’s eating up a massive amount of their attention, resources, and most importantly, time.
Since you’re reading this, I can safely assume that you are deeply interested in spirituality, meditation, transformation, positive perspectives and creating a better world for yourself and everyone else too. Choosing peace, and living a peaceful life is also one of your priorities. However, the world is far from being a peaceful place…currently anyway. Struggle, anxiety, depression and adrenal fatigue are a very real experience for many. Desperation and starvation are something that too many children and their parents are enduring in places like Syria and Yemen. We’d all like to do something more, to contribute more, to help more, but we ourselves are often also just too busy with our dreams, our careers, and the needs of others close to us to be able to do much more than we are already doing.
If everything in your life is fantastic, free, easy and full of joy, then I congratulate you heartily! But if you’re feeling doubt or fear what the future may hold or are even just too tired to care much at all, then I’d like to invite you to really take a long look at your world, your experience and begin to question the stories of how the world works. It is vitally important to understand where we are first, before creating any possible solutions.
In order to do this, you’re going to have to create a slower life. You can’t see or hear anything properly if it’s whizzing by too quickly! Start by carving out 10-15 minutes a day…to do nothing that relates to your work or list of responsibilities. I don’t even want to suggest to you that you meditate, but you could “do” that!
Get into a quieter space. Bedroom? Close the door, turn off the phone. You could pick something that you enjoy doing…thoroughly, like sewing, or cooking, or reading. Better yet, just sit. Eyes open or eyes closed. Sit…quietly. Listen to your breath, your heart. Watch your mind churn…and keep following your own breath. Focus on a single object in front of you if that helps…and really gaze at it effortlessly.
If you find you’re getting annoyed with nothing to do, or with abject silence, then welcome to the club. You’re on the verge of detecting where we are constantly up against a program of distraction from what really matters, which is connection to Source, your own soul and body well-being. Source, God, Goddess, Love, or whatever name you choose to call it, is the Infinite Divine wellspring of everything there is, and everything that isn’t. You didn’t create yourself, and you are alive and breathing through the agency of this Source, and you cannot alter that fact. Pretty humbling stuff, if you ask me. Consciousness and awakening are the ultimate impulse of the Life-Love energy that pulses throughout all that is. Can you just rest in that presence for even 10 minutes? Give it a try. Oh, and you don’t need any intermediary for this…no angels, no masters, no guides. Just you and You. No problem!
After this little experiment, write down what you experienced and what you didn’t experience. It’s a merely a reflective exercise, without a right or wrong to it. Ideally, it can bring you into a place of real pleasurable sensations…a sense of calmness and okay-ness. At least that’s the idea and ideal.
Since we are in the season of giving, I’d suggest that one of the big things you can begin to express with whatever you come away with from these slow life moments is compassion. To give kindness and compassion to whomever you encounter over the last few weeks of 2018 will have great effect. It’s an equalizer, and the one something that we all are needing more of is love and a sense of belonging…the power of communing and community. The best currency, and in my opinion only currency is Love. If you give a donation, let it be wrapped in the felt presence of deliberate and premeditated love. Slow down, and ask the homeless person if they are okay, or if you make the time, ask them to share a bit about themselves. You may get quite an illuminating education and blessing in the process. The money part isn’t the main gift. It’s the gift of time you give to another…a space that is priceless when so many just rush on by, averting their eyes, and caught up in their personal troubles and drama.
Back in a few days with the next segment on The Slow Life. The astrology of Chiron now direct in Pisces is priming us for major healing opportunities on many levels, so relax into the possibilities of what that might engender for yourself.
Blessings on your journey,

You are not a machine.
Looking around these days, whether its in my Inbox, on my social media feeds, or listening to the chatter I pick up on in cafes, I am hearing and seeing loads of messages about becoming more proficient, productive and efficient in your career, workplace, home space and lifetstyle. A near constant litany of ways to improve this, hack that, and strategies for achieving more are even pervasive (as I see it) than in recent memory. In fact, they are becoming just as annoying as pop-up ads. Juxtaposed against this stream of consciousness (am I being too kind here?) are another set of messages warning us about the dysfunctional nature of our lifestyle choices, and how they are increasing our depression, affecting our health, and ultimately calling into question the whole basis of our way of life. Day to day living is becoming a search for the next dopamine fix when you check your smartphone.
Which messages are you listening to?
It seems as if the mindfulness movement has been hijacked to serve our need for ever more security, stuff and to secure some arbitrary ideal of what the “perfect live” looks like. Are we using the tools of metaphysics and spirituality as they were originally designed, or have we co-opted them for our personal ego agendas and possible gain? The wellness industry is a kind of oxymoron really, another adjunct or app to help us to continually cope and produce. However, what happens when you really slow down, and take a closer look, and reflect? The chasing is never-ending. The finding ever more elusive.
Is it all making you happier, or just more miserable than ever?
Worry, anxiety and depression, along with obesity, drug and alcohol addiction, and gender and racial abuses is on the rise. So are authoritarian right-wing politicians and governments. We’re behaving like chronically unfulfilled, hungry ghosts searching for a material or spiritual Nirvana. Perhaps further away from that goal than we'd care to admit. Ultimately, we must ask ourselves, what is it all for, and what is the point?
Whether we like it or not, we are also connected to every other living thing on this world, and we all are having a shared experience. (That's an even a deeper rabbit hole I could take this down, but that’s for another time.) If you are wondering what the most graceful and sensible next steps for reducing or eliminating fear, stress and anxiety in your life, then here is what I’ve found works for me, and for many of those whom I call my clients and friends.

“Live for yourself, and you will live in vain. Live for others, and you will live again.” – Bob Marley
If you are reading this, perhaps you’ve always had a deep and unresolved yearning to know the “truth” about everything. Or, maybe you’ve just had some hard knocks in your life recently, and nothing is making much sense to you now. No matter how you slice it, the reality is that there are very few people who are self-actualized on this planet, who are successful according to society’s definitions, and don’t seem to have a care in the world.
According to a report issued last spring by the World Health Organization (WHO) depression is now a major pandemic affecting millions worldwide, and it’s increasing with each passing month. Even the famous and successful actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has recently admitted that he was so depressed as a teenager after his mother attempted suicide that he was crying all the time, and he now urges men to open to their real feelings. [Links below]
It’s not farfetched to think that we’re not really standing on solid ground any longer. The old beliefs, institutions, and explanations around our reasons for being alive and on this planet don’t cut it anymore, and as a species we are more stressed out, disconnected and yearning for meaning than ever before. Does it feel like you have no time or space to just BE, much less enjoy your life without having a moment’s respite from demands that our societies place on us? If so, then please read on.

“I can't believe you people. I come for you, and you want to stay, I let you stay and you want to go!” – Death, from “Meet Joe Black”
Death…and Taxes. Sometimes paying taxes feels like a dying…like some precious life blood was being taken from you by force, or at least without your enthusiastic cooperation.
The 21 grams. The anomaly of how much lighter a human corpse is after the us that is “us” has vacated, and gone…where?
Ever wonder why it is that most people don’t have a single memory of where they were before their birth? Stranger still, how many can remember their last death, their last life prior to that death, or what came after. Can you remember, or know anyone who can? And, if you did, how can you tell if what it is you’re remembering is true, accurate, infallible?
I read a book a long time ago entitled “What Dream May Come” by Richard Matheson. Yes, it was made into to film later, starring Robin Williams, but that came 20 years after I read it. In the Introduction, Matheson wrote this: “To the Reader…
