I’m approaching this blog like a prosecuting attorney preparing for a long trial. I’ve prepared my case, and I am currently examining witnesses and taking depositions. My research will cover the next few months at least. A verdict won’t be rendered until all the facts have been thoroughly vetted and testimony heard.

The Full Moon will occur at 2 degrees of Scorpio at 6:22AM BST (5:22AM UT) in the United Kingdom on April 22nd, 2016. Keywords for Scorpio include power, secrets, manipulation, obsessions, deep emotion and attachments, passion, and death. Pluto and Mars are the co-rulers. With both planets in retrograde motion since this past weekend, conventional wisdom would lean towards a time of serious soul-searching and reflection. However, Full Moons have a track record for revealing hidden things…making the invisible quite visible, and with Scorpio in the mix, there could be some spilling of the beans about to take place.

The funny coincidence is that this day is also Earth Day. I find this somewhat serendipitous with the Sun in Taurus. We do need to love the Earth, but not just from being grateful for all this orb supplies for us, but to what the Earth actually is. Deep ecology is one manifestation of coming to the awareness that our very survival is not in our hands, but resides in this amazing, diverse, sometimes capricious, living planet. To view the Earth as just a planet would be a miscalculation. In the Gnostic and Pagan traditions, Mother Earth is just that; our Mother, a living goddess that partly transformed itself into all manner of organic and inorganic life. Perhaps one of the more worthwhile rituals we could concoct for this Full Moon would be to cultivate the possibility that we can communicate and cooperate with whatever this world could show us about the art of living fully and thriving. Just saying…

Meanwhile, within the human dramas unfolding which are in lockstep with the ecological and social crises we have by the bucketful, our beliefs and habits in every aspect of our lives that will now undergo cross-examination. This lunation is like the starter’s pistol going off at the beginning of our Five Planets Retrograde one-legged sack race. Any hidden agendas will be deposed. Uncomfortable truths will be revealed. Unsound ideals and systemic beliefs must be questioned. Business as usual is over. What is sustainable will come to the forefront of our awareness. We can no longer afford to ignore what is obvious. If we do, our hearts will hurt even more than they do now.

We are seeing through the games, seeing how we have given our power away to entitlement and privilege, thinking that in exchange we will be taken care of and looked after. That way won’t work any longer. We are charged with not only reinventing ourselves, but with re-envisioning our entire way of living. It begins with us, and our beliefs, and our attachments to security…as we have known it.

Be prepared for more shedding of skins, but by no means are we in this alone. While the level of the conversation may be internally, we will need to fashion some way to communicate with each other…Mercury Retrograde or no. Sometimes instead of a bunch of fancy analysis or platitudes, the simple offer of a hug, a kind word, or making someone a cup of tea, will have far greater effect. Giving of ourselves and even some of our resources if needed, will not diminish us, it will enhance our ability to appreciate and receive even more.

Ultimately Taurus is about being in love with Nature, and harmonizing with it and living symbiotically, not unlike so-called ‘primitive’ peoples. There’s a beauty and rhythm to that, which is often missing in our busy-ness. Scorpio is about transformation and rising from the ashes of separation and competition, unfurling as a beautiful phoenix, resplendent in the glory of its rebirth.

Expect the best, while preparing for the unexpected. Do not isolate, but also embrace and utilize solitude with compassion and patience. Letting go of power is powerful. What are we afraid of?

A Planet Visions Update by Isaac George

Feel that? The brakes are being applied now. Downshift slowly. Caution, curves and switchbacks ahead.

We have moved past the last of the eclipses relating to the Uranus-Pluto Squares from June 2012 to March 2015, culminating on the Lunar Eclipse of March 23rd, but Uranus and Pluto are still within sensitivity, around 3 degrees, so we’re not quite done yet. There are many other energies in the mix now though, and although they may not seem like headline news, in terms of their influence on personal and collective consciousness, they’re very powerful.

On March 30th we had a powerful conjunction of Venus and Chiron conjunct at 22 Pisces. The Nodes were heavily involved, so if there was something of significance happening for you around this time, it may have involved a shock or loss of some kind. During the last two weeks, Venus has completed its transit in Pisces and is now in Aries, which on balance is a bit confusing for the Feminine and all of us. Like Xena, the warrior princess, this energy can be strong on action and survival but a bit short-sighted in the compassion and patience departments. However, this transit has set the stage for any deeper unmasking and choices that will take place between now and the beginning of July. Then, on April 9th and 10th, the Sun in Aries caught up and was conjunct with Uranus and then Eris. This may have also been an eruptive disrupter of the peace. However, Uranus’ job is to reveal and transform “false” peace. We are unable to repress anything with this influence which is asking the power of our Souls to uproot anything that no longer serves us.

However, I’m getting a bit ahead of myself here.  I’m looking forward towards the May-June meet up between Uranus and Eris in Aries. Think of dwarf planet Eris as Mars (Aries) sister, and you get the idea. Eris was a wedding crasher. As the tale goes, all of the Olympians had been invited to the wedding of Peleus and Thetis, who would become the parents of Achilles; however, Eris was not invited, due to her inclination to cause discord. As a means of revenge, Eris dropped the golden Apple of Discord into the party, which had the words “To The Fairest One” inscribed on it. Hera, Athena and Aphrodite started quarrelling over who the apple should be given to, so Zeus appointed Paris, Prince of Troy, as the person to solve the dispute. The goddesses offered Paris various gifts, but he eventually picked Aphrodite, who promised him the most beautiful woman in the world; Helen, wife of Menelaus, king of Sparta. And guess what…all this would eventually lead to The Trojan War!

So, as you can now see, the mixture of Uranus, aka Mr. Surprise and revolution, with Eris, Ms. Discord, is a potent recipe for upheaval and change. The simmer becomes the boil, the fuse is sizzling. The status quo is no longer safe. Now, add to this five retrograding planets, and all bets are off.

Fixed star Antares possesses the nature of Mars. It can manifest as malevolence and impulsiveness, or broadmindedness and passion."

Saturn went stationary the day after the March 23rd Lunar Eclipse in Aries-Libra, and then retrograde on the 26th of March. This Sunday Mars will station to move into retrograde motion at 8 degrees plus of Sagittarius and turn retrograde on Monday the 18th. If you’ve been feeling the energy starting to slow down this past week, then this is the reason why. A Mars retrograde will usually be more pronounced than Mercury retrograde, causing us a bit of doubt and/or frustration around our goals, plans and efforts, and everything will seem to take longer or require more energy just to tread water or move forward at a crawl. The timeframe is April 18th to July 1st. Its ‘hurry up and wait’, so try not to burn yourself out pushing to get from here to there! Move when you can, and then rest and relax. Mars won’t station to direct until July 1st, and pushing the river may cause the river to push back!

Mars will gradually move backwards into the sign of Scorpio, arriving at the 29th degree (Degree of Fate) on May 27th. Mars completes his retrograde on July 1st, and returns to 8 degrees and 53 minutes of Sagittarius around August 22nd. Of course, on the way he will once again cross the 29th (Anaretic) Degree of Fate on July 30th. If you remember, I spoke about the Anaretic Degree during the transits of Saturn through Scorpio in December 2014, and June and September 2015, which created many upheavals and changes…a major karmic clearing.

Mars’ retrograde starts very close to a significant fixed star – Antares. Known as the ‘Heart of the Scorpion’, this will add even more fire and brimstone to an already unstable chemistry. Fixed star Antares possesses the nature of Mars. It can manifest as malevolence and impulsiveness, or broadmindedness and passion. The combination of Mars and Antares can signify a sexual passion and level of connection bordering on the cosmic,  and resembles the celestial furnace from which new galaxies are birthed. If you have anything in your chart around 8-11 degrees of Sagittarius, or have Mars or Venus near this degree in a Composite relationship chart, then this passionate impulsiveness will be familiar to you.

The next event happens the day after Mars is center stage. Pluto begins his annual retrograde journey starting at 17 degrees of Capricorn on April 19th, and won’t turn around until September 28th.

Pluto retrogrades are sometimes difficult to sense or fathom, but like all such cycles, it’s an inward focus on the Capricorn issues…specifically around order, power, control and truth. As Pluto goes backwards, the distance increases between him and Uranus, and this will allowing the full power of Uranus to become quite visible. This will be the case even while Uranus is in his retrograde motion from late July till year’s end. He’ll still close to Eris during that time as well.

A fifth planet will join the retrograde parade this month. Mercury turns backwards on the last day of April at 23 degrees of Taurus and resumes forward direction (not counting the shadow periods) on May 24th. Jupiter is still retrograde in Virgo, but will be moving direct on May 11th.

Lastly, a big Full Moon in Scorpio will coming up for us on April 22nd, but I’ll blog about that later next week.

The Big Picture...

As Mars turns back into Scorpio, which is co-ruled by retrograde Pluto, expect to see some real anger and frustration manifest, especially against establishment symbols and structures, or anything representing the patriarchy. The current demonstrations in Brazil, France, and the U.S., and near riot conditions in Paris just in the past few days, are probably going to increase. This may become a very unstable and volatile time, as the recent revelations about tax evasion (Panama Papers, etc.) are stoking the fires of public anger. Saturn retrograde in Sagittarius is asking “what is REALLY the truth about XYZ?”

As Saturn and Neptune get closer to one another over the next few months, watch the level of spin and avoidance coming from the voices of “authority” increase. However, these should be seen through pretty easily as psychological intimidation…a futile attempt to resist the inevitable change that is coming.

The masks are being ripped off the political and economic “realities” that we’ve thus far believed worked. More ugly revelations are bound to come to light, as Uranus and Eris get closer and activate their intended missions. An article appearing Thursday, April 15th in the Independent UK fingers a number of U.S. corporations hiding over $1.4 trillion offshore. The expose’ names Coca-Cola, Google, Goldman Sachs and others. Of course since we’re dealing with Uranus, I cannot, nor will I, predict anything specific. Be prepared for anything to happen…in other words, remain curious and please stay grounded. See the links I’ve included below for more information.

"Embracing uncertainty and the unknown with love, compassion for self and others, and a bit of humour will go much further in the long run. We are all works in progress, but we also all need more play and fun in our journeys…and companionship. Resistance to change creates stress, disease, and war. This is obviously not desirable, so why go that way?"

In our personal lives these influences may manifest for you, depending on where they touch into your personal astrological blueprints. In general  I feel that trying to hang on to anything that was invested in as an acquired belief or advice rooted in the old paradigm will seriously falter, and require a reorientation from our soul and heart intelligence in order to make sense of the changes and proceed from a new perspective. In some cases, attempts to push forward goals and agendas that aren’t oriented in these new energies may fail dramatically.

Whether it’s related to our business goals, interpersonal relationships, or longer range dreams and hopes, I recommend that the number one best move is to look to where you might be wearing masks that no longer fit. Perhaps you’ve been trying to be a success in any number of areas, but are finding that merely trying to control all of the tasks you’re juggling for the promise of future rewards is wearing thin, and even causing you emotional pain and/or physical ailments. The amount of energy we expend to keep any façade in place to appease others, or more likely, our own self-image mandate, is going to be severely challenged at this time.
